I just started doing some s2 rewatching, and the Topher/Claire storyline in "Vows" -- and particularly That One Scene -- augh, so amazing and fascinating and gut-wrenching, I wish we could have gotten a whole season dedicated to their interaction alone. Of course, that is what fic is for!

I have been watching tons of Gilmore Girls lately. I feel like, somehow, that explains a lot about this. The Dollhouse = Stars Hollow, kinda, right? Oh, those zany kids!

Also – at the beginning of this season, the thing I was like the most excited about was the introduction of Franklin, The Sassy Dollhouse Wardrobe Guy. I wanted that man around forever! Anyway. This is tremendously nonsensical & silly & random, not to mention verging at all times on total OOCitude. I randomly thought of this notion yesterday, and then someone posted the very same prompt over at dewitt_dominic, and I'm not about to fight destiny when it's that blatant! Especially if it makes my brain all tingly, and gives me an excuse to rewatch scenes from A Spy in the House of Love.

Author's Note: Because the day before school starts, what better thing to do than weirdly decide, "I AM GOING TO WRITE AN EPIC D/D FIC THAT SPANS OVER A DECADE." Yeah, I don't know! This took a few fragments of scenes that I'd started already, adds a bunch of new ones, and basically bounces back and forth throughout the whole duration of their relationship, including Me Being Really Optimistic About Neither Of Them Dying For Awhile. (Come on, Joss, let the morally dubious pairing prosper! Kill the good guys!)

I really like the way that the show's been handling going back and forth in time with its flashbacks, so I wrote this in the spirit of that. It is pretty much all over the place, not chronological or linear at all. I hope that it's pretty easy to follow, but just in case, I will provide a key for if you guys get really lost and need to refer back to it!
