copperiisulfate and I were talking yesterday about how ~sexy times~ tend to get more attention than friendship on TV and in fandom, and what a shame that can be. (Although a pretty delightful and understandable shame.) So I was thinking that maybe it would be fun to celebrate good old-fashioned friend time in a comment ficathon. Which will either be super jolly, or super super lame. I can't quite decide. But I figure it's worth a shot! And really, it's always just fun to have an excuse to make up prompts.Ergo ...

1. Despite the general concept, I think the pairings this can apply to are pretty widespread. Friendship is an important component of romantic love, after all! I guess the bottom line is to focus the fic more on buddydom than makeouts & such? (Basically: this is your spinster aunt's comment ficathon. I'm
dollsome, I'm worse than everybody's aunt.)2. Prompts should basically have a 'Fandom -- pairing or characters -- prompt' format.

"We missed that?--okay, right, back to the point. Why does this merit dragging me into a side room?"
"Because what are we going to do? Elyan heard it from Jonathan this morning when he got back from patrol and since Gwaine and Percival and Leon think it's so funny they haven't bothered to correct his assumption and he's about ready to give you the if you hurt my baby sister speech! That speech involves brandishing knives at you, Merlin!"
"Uh, he won't actually hurt me, will he?"
"I don't know, the only boy he ever gave the speech to never spoke to me again, so that's all I've got!"
"Uh...huh. Er, it can't be that bad. And, well, Gwen, maybe it's actually a good thing?"
"What?"
"I mean, I certainly know about your, uh, questionable relations, and I have my own...uh, that is, I have no romantic attachments at all. I just mean I'd like to help out a friend. Such as yourself. Who would benefit from uh, an undercover, uh,"
"I'm not fake dating you, Merlin! No one cares if I'm seeing Lancelot!"
"People care if you're seeing Ar--"
"Merlin! Do you actually have no idea how to be discreet? He's already kissed me in the courtyard just a few weeks after I nearly got exiled and God knows how he is around you," she punctuates this statement with a glare that clearly reads it's sad how noticeable you are.
"I have...no idea what you're implying," Merlin replies unsteadily.
"Are you aware that you're actually the worst liar? Really," she responds, "I've known forever, because come on. You guys are obvious."
"Wait, if we're both seeing him does that mean we're actually seeing each other anyway? Because, like, transitive property--not to mean I am seeing him! Because I'm not! Not romantically! At all!"
"Right. And no, it does not. Sometimes I wonder if he's right about your mental afflictions, you know. And this is all besides the point of the castle trying to plan our wedding and my brother maybe killing you."
"Uh. We could both get caught making out with other people? Because then we just seem like we enjoy makin' out in closets?"
"I'm pretty sure that would make the castle think we're sluts. I don't know if you understand, but having impugned honor would be really bad for me."
"Even though your future prospects are both aware you are not a slut?"

"One of my future prospects is convinced he'll never be worthy of me and the other is in love with you! I'd say I'd like to keep my reputation of not a slut just in case Lancelot never comes around."
"Er, the castle kind of already thinks I'm--"
"I know very well what the castle thinks of you! Everyone in laundry today was asking why I would ever want to take up with such a ladies' man! Honestly, you, a ladies' man, it's ridiculous!"
"I have no idea where these things get started. We can just convince Gwaine to explain to Elyan because otherwise I'll die. And maybe if we don't talk about the rumors, they'll fizzle out. More interesting things will come up. I hear Vivian's coming back to court next week!"
"And she still likes Arthur so much, doesn't she? You'll have quite a time keeping her out of his room."
"As long as I don't have to keep him and his roses out of hers. That was horrible. At least she won't try to kill him."
"That's no guarantee for your safety. But you're probably right, the court'll loose interest soon enough, they forgot about thinking you were a cross dresser as soon as Vivian showed up the first time."
At this point, the door creaks open. It's not like Merlin and Gwen are doing anything, Merlin's sitting on the bed and Gwen is over near the window, but this is after last night. And of course all the servant boy who walks in says is,
"Ah! So it is true!"
before darting off down the hallway to Gwen and Merlin's cries of wait and this isn't even incriminating!
