I feel like there's not much regulation here in terms of pairings: almost every ship or pair of characters is capable of a fluffy/happy/silly moment, and if they're not in canon, then why can't they be in fic? However, any prompt involving, say, lyrics from Eminem and Rihanna's "Love The Way You Lie" is probably not appropriate in terms of tone. Unless it's the "guess that's why they call it WINDOW PANE" line, which will never stop being hilarious.

This could probably (definitely) be worked on more and improved, but at this point I just have to let it go. I really like your prompt but somehow this kinda spun out of control and away from it a bit. Sorry about that. Also, I don’t know how fluffy this really is, but at least it’s not angst…

This is set before the attack on the colonies.

He'd forgotten her name, or so he said.
The most plausible scenario, she thought, was that he probably just hadn't paid attention to it in the first place. What she knows for sure, though, is that he never planned for her to stick around. He'd wanted her, that had been obvious for the second she introduced herself, but he had only planned for a one night frak, and you don't really need a name for that, so he hadn't asked again.

She had other plans for them, though, but he hadn't known that and when she did end up sticking around, it was too late, there was just no delicate way to ask the name of a woman you've been frakking for almost six months.

It became a game for him, she could tell: how long could he go on on "darling", "sweetheart" and "love" without ever mentioning her name? What he didn’t know was that it was a game for her too, it amused her. She was actually kinda glad he had forgotten the name she had given him when they met, she didn't really like it, didn’t feel like it suited her. At least that way, when she was with him, she didn’t have to pretend on that aspect - she didn’t have a name, after all, so somehow this made her time with Baltar more real.
It wasn‘t, obviously, she had always planned on insinuating herself into his life on the long term, but somehow with time it had became more real. Well, everything he knew about her (and it wasn’t much) was still fake, but at least she was enjoying herself. So much, in fact, that she had knowingly dragged on her work with Baltar, in order to spend more time with him. She’d told herself it was under the pretence of cautiousness, that she had to make sure her cover was secure and that everything was right for the mission to succeed. In reality, though, she could probably have obtained what she needed much faster, only, that would have put a end to the necessity of her cover, and she didn’t want that. She’d spend a lot more time with him than was necessary, just because she wanted to. Truth be told, she liked his company.

There was just something about the man. He was obnoxiously pretentious and quite possibly the most egotistical man she had ever met, and somehow she found it attractive. It was astonishing, really, the way he actually believed the grandiose persona he had made himself to be. His seemingly limitless capacity for self-deception was fascinating. She realized it was a bit twisted, but she knew her was a flirt, knew he slept with plenty of other women but it didn't bother her, she actually enjoyed watching him charm women - which he did, even when she was there, which she found strangely honest, it a way. (She got jealous only once, but there was attenuating circumstances, humanity was about to be destroyed and she had wanted to spend her last few moments with him before he died. She had wanted to tell him about herself.)

She was glad he had been her mark too, it was kind of a perfect match. Gaius didn't like to talk about his past, and so he never asked about hers - or maybe it was by lack of interest - either way, it suited her, she didn't have to make up one. He was easy to distract and could talk about himself and his accomplishments for hours, without ever asking about her. That was fine by her too. His work truly was fascinating, she realized after a while, and despite everything, the man actually was brilliant, and so she enjoyed listening to him. She also very much enjoyed challenging him, when she could. He’d get all riled up and there would be this fire in his eyes. Yes, Gaius Baltar liked his work. He also very much liked proving himself right.

And so she kept coming back, even when it wasn't necessary, just to spend time with him. Most of it was spent in bed, it was true, but it wasn‘t always for cover. In fact, it was barely ever for cover. She wasn't so surprised that even after two years, this Casanova of a no strings man still wanted her, after all they’d made her model look the way she did exactly for that purpose. What had surprised her though, was that she kept wanting him more as time passed. Sometimes she’d sneak into his house and crawl into his bed, in the middle of the night, waking him up with her touches and her kisses. (He never gave her a key but she could always get in and he quickly stopped asking about it. It was just the way things were.) She found herself addicted to his touch, to the feel of his hands on her. Gaius Baltar was a lady’s man, and he had the skills to prove it.

She enjoyed his touches when they were in public too, his hand firmly locked around her waist as they walked around town, while he looked upon the crowd in superiority. She liked to think it was partly because of her, knew it probably was. She was a sort of trophy to him. But not always, not when they were alone. They could have so much fun then. They’d drink and talk about politics and science and the latest media gossip, and he still had this superior tone in his voice, but that was okay, because it was who he was. Then they could also spend hours sitting on the balcony of his house, with his arms around her, starring at the gorgeous view of the lake, she would listen to him talk about himself, or they would just sit in companionable silence. Either way, it felt nice.

So he didn’t remember her name, but he knew what her favorite drink was, and how she took her coffee in the morning. He knew of her uncommon belief in the one true God, and didn’t try to convert her. He also had this uncanny ability to sense when she was cold and always covered her with a blanket. That was enough for her.

She had asked him if he loved her, spun it as a joke, but she had wondered for real, if underneath it all, there was something more for him. Maybe. She wondered if she loved him, too. Probably. Then, as he was about to die, the answer was definitely.

I love you so much right now I'm finding it hard to breathe. This is everything I could want and more in a Gaius/Caprica fic. (Also, I have thought of all this head canon about like, Gaius having Caprica in his phone as like, 'darling,' and this touched on it AND HAVE I MENTIONED I LOVE YOU BECAUSE I DO, SO MUCH.)
