I'm glad I was up late and caught this! The flip side of that, of course, is that I'm too tired to say anything very thoughtful, but here goes.
This is really, really nice. And it's so very like Michael/Jan, it's the same pattern we see all the time with them. She does everything she can and prepares herself for so long, convincing herself why she doesn't care and all the reasons why it doesn't matter or doesn't work, and in just a split second of Michael being Michael, he goes and ruins all the denial she's built up.
When she steps into his office, he smiles at her. Starts to sing.
Damn him.
I really, really love that. I can actually feel that happening, the second where she thinks she's completely prepared, and then he opens his mouth and it's ruined. Oh, Michael.
Romance can be approached with just as much practicality as anything else.
