I think that, if someone got me going, I could probably angry-rant about this show for like ONE HUNDRED PAGES. There is a part of me that still feels like I'm hanging out back in season one, and everything is full of possibility! and tragedy! and oh, such feelings. (Because how on earth is the OT4 going to fall apart when there is so much love and loyalty between them? Just think of the nuanced and heartwrenching writing that will have to make that progression believable! To which I say: HA HA HA HA HA, now excuse me, I must go weep for always.)
Anyway: a great post-s1 rewrite is one of the best ideas I have EVER HEARD, and if I weren't so gosh darn lazy, I would be all over that starting right now. And seriously. How does no one know? HOW DOES NO ONE KNOW?? Why would you even make this life decision, writers?!?!! After four years, I would have expected that at least Gwen would know. It would bring such a refreshing dimension to the show if Merlin had someone besides Gaius to talk to this stuff about, and it would be fantastic to have Gwen given a role that isn't Arthur's Longsuffering Ladylove, and also HOW DOES ARTHUR NOT KNOW? Why don't they at least play more with the idea of Arthur suspecting? There's so much storytelling/characterization possibility alive in that premise, and yet they just never, never, never do anything with it! And have I lately mentioned how Morgana spent basically the whole of s4 IN A HUT WITH AGRAVAINE??? AND WE NEVER EVEN GOT TO SEE MUCH OF WHY AGRAVAINE WAS SO INTO HER? EVEN THAT COULD HAVE BEEN POTENTIALLY INTERESTING.
Just.
Why.
Okay, it's obligatory watch As The Day Is Fading and shake my fists at the heavens time.
