that's one thing that seems evident in Reed Diamond's performance; he always seems very physically controlled, and although they walk super-close together, he almost seems to maintain a precise distance from her when they're face to face, like he can't look at her straight on and let himself get too close (professionalism WOO - and of course that goes straight out the window once she knows his secret. Then its All Invading Personal Space All the Time!)
GOD, HOW ARE THESE TWO SO AMAZING AT BEING SO INTERESTING AND NUANCED, for real!!! For some reason, I never quite fully realized before how often Dominic has his arms crossed -- it is like all the time! Which is so great, because there's just that sense of being inherently closed off that works so well. And then that Adelle tends to put her hands on her hips, which has the similar effect of exuding Serious Business And Power, but does it in a way that's also like PS, I Am Scarily Gorgeous And Sophisticated Womanly Perfection, which is such an integral part of her badassery. And then, yes, the way the physicality between them just totally changes post-1x09, it is fascinating. How so analyzable, ship. It kind of scares me, the extent to which I can think about them and think about them and just not get bored!
And OH, I am glad you liked the food taster line! Haha, it was probably subconsciously inspired by reading Christopher Moore's Fool, wherein there was an ill-fated food taster, but I'm going to put on my Literary Pretension Cap and say it's, er, continuing to evoke that air of Queen And Her Consort/Bodyguard/What Have You that they rock so beautifully. I just love that sense that he is so quick to protect her; it's really romantic in this old school knight-and-lady way which just enthralls me so much re: these guys because they are both so crisp and professional and bitter and unromantic, and I feel like I probably already made this speech today earlier on dewitt_dominic, YES, THIS SHOW HAS EATEN MY WHOLE BRAIN.
And oh, I love everything you said about the second-to-last scene, I'm so glad you liked it. I was just, like, lamely overwhelming my own fangirly heart in the process of writing that. And I am pretty sure this wasn't on purpose at all -- I just write this stuff! Like, randomly! It spews out of my brain with no grace! -- now that you said that thing earlier about Adelle's clothes being such a deliberate effort on her part to communicate who she is and how she wants to be seen, the fact that she is wearing Dominic's shirt now makes my heart extra overwhelmed. She's his ladylove, bitches. And, uh, okay, I think I have now circled back to somehow becoming sentimental over my own fanfic, which is just sad. In short: your awesome feedback & observations are to be blamed here!! And thank you. So much. For being. SO AWESOME. <3
