lately I'm thinking he refused because then what would have he given the lord when asked what he got that day?! Hahaha! And a thousand smutty slash fanfics were born! Really, stuff is homoerotic enough with all the kissing that goes down.
I also love how the lord is the green knight. HOW DID SIR GAWAIN FAIL TO NOTICE THAT. I mean, okay, magic, presumably he did not look like a big green knight at the time. But still. The logistics of this crack me up.
