Winter is coming; daylight is fleeting; for the students among us, end-of-semester hell is just about to rear its ugly head. What better way to combat such woes than with a super-cheerful comment ficathon?

The Rules Are Thus:

1. Cheerful prompts! I feel like there's not much regulation here in terms of pairings: almost every ship or pair of characters is capable of a fluffy/happy/silly moment, and if they're not in canon, then why can't they be in fic? However, any prompt involving, say, lyrics from Eminem and Rihanna's "Love The Way You Lie" is probably not appropriate in terms of tone. Unless it's the "guess that's why they call it WINDOW PANE" line, which will never stop being hilarious.

Okay, this kind of got away from me, so it's less Barney/Robin and more the whole gang.

One night at McLaren's Robin pulled Barney aside.

"Hey," she whispered, "I found something that I think you need to see." He was more than a little disappointed when she handed him a book.

He looked at the title. "Twilight? Really, Robin? Really?"

"It's not mine!" she hissed. "Look on the inside!"

Stamped on the inner cover was an elaborate seal that read: PROPERTY OF THEODORE E. MOSBY.

"Oh," says Barney, as a slow grin spread across his face. "Oh, this is gonna be -"

"Legendary." Robin finished.

Later that night, during a lapse in the conversation, Robin carefully met Barney's eyes and gave a tiny nod, and Operation: Stake It To Ted (the name was Barney's idea) began.

"So," Robin began casually, "Today at work Becky would not shut up about Twilight."

Lily groaned. "Oh, those books are the worst. Do you know how many of my students dressed up as Twilight characters for Halloween this year? Four. Can you believe it? They're five years old, and they've already been corrupted by that junk."

Marshall looked horrified. "Inappropriate! Those books are way too mature for little kids."

"Wait, you've read them?" asked Robin.

"No!" Marshall said quickly. "I mean... okay, fine. I was curious, okay?" he said defensively. "And besides, I like a good love story as much as the next guy."

"Or girl," muttered Barney.

Marshall ignored him "So yeah, I read them. I wish I hadn't- they've scarred me for life now. The night after I finished the last one I had this horrible dream where Lily and I had a baby and Ted fell in love with it."

"WHAAAT?!"

"Exactly! It was awful. And then I started thinking, well, what if that really happened?"

"Marshall!" Ted squawked. "That's completely ridiculous!"

"Is it, Ted?" Marshall said accusingly. "IS IT?"

"Yes! Look, Marshall, I promise you, I will not fall in love with your future child."

At that moment, some guy walking past their table paused to glanced at Ted suspiciously.

Ted looked up at him and said weakly, "Uh- Twilight nightmare."

"Ah, gotcha," replied the guy, and walked on.

Robin looked disturbed. "Seriously, has everyone read these books?"

Lily raised a hand. "I haven't, but I've had to deal with Marshall's nightmares about them. As far as I'm concerned, the whole Colden family can go straight to hell."

"Cullen," Ted corrected absently.

Robin's head snapped up. "What was that, Ted?"

Ted's eyes widened. "Nothing."

Robin smirked. "I don't think so. Hey, Barney, I think Professor Mosby has something to share with the class."

"Nope. Not a thing," said Ted.

"Oh, Ted, Ted, Ted," Barney said, his voice dripping with mock-sympathy, "It's okay - we're all friends here. You can come out of the vampire closet. The sparkly, sparkly vampire closet."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, really? Well, this-" Robin said, pulling the book out of her purse, "begs to differ."

Ted went pale.

"Look," she continued. "You even put your name in it - with one of your special Property Of stickers." She raised an eyebrow. "Suck on that, vampire boy."

Ted buried his head in his hands. "Okay, you win. It's mine, I admit it. I read it, it's mine. It's not like it's the worst thing in the world."

Marshall looked ashamed. "I've just lost so much respect for you, man."

"Oh, come on," snapped Ted. "We all watched Buffy, didn't we? It's kind of the same thing!"

"Oh, Ted," Lily said pityingly. "Trust me, it's not the same. Not at all."

They were together three years before Hoyt could afford a nice ring and a nice proposal; by then they had made the little rented house ten percent theirs with a mortgage and a really big bed. Jessica squealed and ran around a little, before literally swooning down on his bent knee and hugging the life out him. He grinned and offered her a hanky because they had both known she was going to cry. Hoyt had thought about taking her to Merlotte's, but he knew Jess wouldn't want to be seen crying blood in public.

"Hoyt Fortenberry, I am going to be the best wife you've ever had," she'd promised wildly.

"I'm sure you will," he'd replied with a bitten back grin. Jess was going to be his only wife, anyway, but the words were nice to hear.

"I have to pick out a dress!"

The twinge of mild panic he'd felt hearing her describe wedding clothes was somewhat unfounded. Hoyt knew Jessica had a few less than tasteful things in the wardrobe from her very early days of being a vampire. He also knew she had been living in a vampire nightclub at the time, under the care of some not-so-savoury folks. It wasn't so much that he questioned her being a lady with class, it was just that she was so pretty she sometimes overwhelmed an outfit's modesty.

He was happily aware neither of them were virgins, but when she started talking about not wearing white, Hoyt could tell it was weighing on her mind. He sat Jessica down and very solemnly informed her she could wear whatever she liked to the wedding and he'd look like a lucky slob in comparison.

"I'm afraid - I'm gonna cry and get it messy," she said, timidly pulling his hand into her lap. "I can just imagine the whole church going silent as these big bloody streaks start running down my front, and then everyone standing up and walking out on the freakshow vampire bride."

He smothered a chuckle at her miserable pout, and cupped her face gently. "Oh, Jess, that's just not gonna happen. I'll put Jason Stackhouse on the inside of the doors with a fifth of whiskey in him, and he'll usher everybody back to their seats with some new dents in 'em! And if you like, you can have a pink dress with a matching hanky. I know you're going to be the prettiest bride they've ever seen."

She sniffled and tossed her hair. "Really? Even your mama?"

Hoyt smiled. "Well, Mama will always be the most beautiful bride she's ever seen, but you'll be next on the list if she knows what's good for her."

Jessica laughed, a quick and innocent blurt of sound. "I like pink! All the magazines say redheads shouldn't wear it, but I like it a lot."

He looked at the small dashes of dried tears in the corners of her eyes, blinked back as her mood lifted, and said, "I like pink, too."
