Resurrecting Chivalry (Luke/Lorelai)

Because I lose at writing anything remotely short, and because I have been watching entirely too much Gilmore Girls lately to the point where conversations between the characters unravel in my brain effortlessly and then refuse to end, here is my response to [livejournal.com profile] agent_nica's prompt for the first line meme!

(I feel kinda bad, because I know she is a Chris/Lorelai girl, but . . . my muse cannot be controlled!!)

But anyway!

Extensive shameless Luke/Lor banter! Set . . . some time in season five, I guess? Or maybe even . . . after the finale! Because they lived happily ever after! Yaaay!

"This is the dumbest thing you've ever made me do."

"Oh, really?"

"Really."

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yes."

"Yeah, all right, okay -- but are you sure you're sure?"

"Lorelai."

"Fine! Sheesh. Just checking. And it's completely not, by the way."

"Uh, I'm pretty sure it is."

"You seem to be forgetting the time I made you dress up like a Catholic schoolgirl."

"Cute."

"Yes, you were!"

"Have I told you lately that you're completely delusional?"

"Why, I do declare, Mr. Danes - you certainly know how to woo a girl!"

"I don't need to woo you. We're already dating."

"Oh, wow, okay. If that's how you feel about it. Man. Chivalry is dead."

"Tell you what -- later, I'll slay you a dragon."

"Dirty!"

"How?"

"Hey. Don't question the power of the 'dirty.' It is my right to invoke it at any given time without explanation."

"Right. Sorry I asked. Hey, listen. You're not really serious about this, are you?"

"Why would I not be serious about Stars Hollow's obvious need for tree-shaped hamburgers on Arbor Day? This -- this is not a joking matter!"

"Oh brother."

"It wouldn't be a proper Arbor Day cookout if the hamburgers were hamburger shaped! Imagine the tragedy! The devastation!"

"Okay, okay--"

"Kirk would probably hurl himself from the nearest bridge!!"

"I get it--"

"--and this time, it wouldn't be part of an audition tape for Survivor! Oh no, honey. This would be the real deal."

"Lorelai."

"What??"

"We need to move."

"Ooh, really? Where?"

"Anywhere. Anywhere that doesn't celebrate Arbor Day with tree-shaped hamburgers."

"Aw, but what fun would that be?"

"The kind of fun where I don't have to figure out how to make tree-shaped hamburgers!"

"You're such a downer."

"Well, I am talking about whisking you away to a remote location. That's gotta score me some points."

"You'd think that, wouldn't you? But actually, you see, you might lose points there, because not only are you dragging me away from my hometown which I so dearly love, but you're also--"

"How 'bout if I kissed you right now?"

"'Fraid not! Because then I'd just be inclined to suspect that the only reason you're suddenly so interested in kissing my lovely and luscious mouth is so that no more words could come out of it."

"Can't get anything past you."

"Nope! -- whoa whoa whoa. Back up, mister."

"If you insist."

"Wait a second. Where are you going?"

"You said 'back up, mister.'"

"Well, yeah, but when I say 'back up, mister,' what I mean is 'ravish me here on this counter in front of everybody.' Jeez. How long have you known me?"

"Not long enough, apparently."

"Damn straight."

"Although sometimes it feels like a very, very long time."

"Oh, really? Any complaints?"

"You know, I think I'll manage."

"Aww! Hey -- back up, mister!"

"Stop winking."

"It's code."

"You're ridiculous."

"Ohh, you know you love it."

"Yeah. Something like that."

This is great. I love your writing style.
Would you mind if I friended you. I've been semi-tracking your LJ for a bit now, and I love your Office and 30 Rock episode reviews, not to mention your Office stories.

ZOMG! You wrote me a response! I'm so happy!

Even though Chris/Lor set my heart a-fire, I do still think Luke/Lorelai are adorable. Just not in season 6. But I totally loved them in the first five seasons, and, duh of course they had to end up together. ;)

Anyway! This was totally awesome; I loved it! I laughed outloud. I could really, really hear the distinct voices of Luke and Lorelai. Yay!

"Tell you what -- later, I'll slay you a dragon."

"Dirty!"

"How?"

That made me laugh, because when Luke said that, I thought, "Hee! That sounds dirty." And then Lorelai agreed. :D

THANK YOU! <3
