I completely agree with you, I mean Jan was my absolute favorite character!! Melora Hardin was my favorite actress for a while I just could not get enough of her! I mean I was holding out on them even throughout season 4! Now that is dedication! But I just got sick and tired of her and her little snide remarks, she was always mean to him but she got so condescending and I hated it! And I hate to say it but without Holly I really am kind of pulling for a M/J reunion. And I know that I will be shot for saying this but I really would love to see M/J back together, the way it was before season 4, hell the way it was before season 3! Back when Jan was secretly pining for Michael and tried to deny the fact that she had a thing for him. But like I said before that was a completely different Jan, one that doesn't exist anymore. And to have M/J retry their relationship Jan would obviously have to have a personality transplant. But they can't be done with Melora yet, she has been on this show since the beginning and I think that she means too much to the show to just let her character be written off as such a horrible person.
