Because now we have time to write all that fic we've been neglecting all semester in favor of bleak stuff like schoolwork. :) Did I post this exact same ficathon at this time last year, complete with that diabolical picture of Calvin? Yes, yes I did. Because 'tis the time of year for fanfiction therapy.

At times - and there is a pattern, at least Hermione thinks there is - Luna will wrap Hermione up in her arms from behind and just cradle her. Back and forth, chin over Hermione's shoulder. Sometimes she'll hum, sometimes Hermione just imagines she does. She doesn't say a thing. Just takes over Hermione's being one sway at a time, and expects nothing more than for Hermione to eventually melt into her embrace. Hermione thinks it happens when she goes too quiet. When she, either knowingly or not, slips away into the dredges of her mind, falls from the plane on which their home sits. When even her eyes go silent. And Luna can somehow always tell. From even the other side of the house, from outside in the garden. And somehow it always catches Hermione off guard, and she feels foolish and embarrassed, and - a mess. But Luna's warmth and steady presence, the investment of her time, it makes it okay again. It brings her home again, to safety. Keeps her from running away.

Wow ♥ Thank you so much! This is exactly what I wanted, the sweetness and easiness I imagine Luna would bring to any relationship, and the anger and restlessness that hides behind Hermione's composed exterior. Thank you again!
