Elena's old dreams from when she was a child came back to mind when she first saw Rebekah. As strange as it was. She felt familiar with Rebekah. The dreams she had as a little kid around 9, 10, and 11 were centered around the roaring twenties.

She imagined a blonde. She had short pin curls, that was apparently the style back then. A white, beaded dress hugging her form. Bright blue eyes that would stare at Elena so openly, with a slight smirk across her face the whole time.

That had been her haven from the reality she faced everyday with school and chores and everything in between. She could easily just drift off into hour-long daydreams. Creating her own story of her life in the twenties. It was perfect to her. She never wanted to give it up. But eventually she grew up and she begrudgingly let it go.

Occasionally the same dreams would cross her mind. She remembered the girl to be troubled. Just like how she was at the time when her parents died. She felt she could relate herself to the girl. There had been moments in her fantasy world where they both would just cry. Elena felt it was the best way to deal with things.

Even if the girl wasn't real. She helped Elena cope and accept eventually. She didn't dare tell anyone about this. They would've set her straight to the mental institution if she had. But now she was seeing her in person. In the flesh, the girl was real.

She looked at Rebekah oddly and Rebekah stared back. “Yes?” she asked. Elena gulped. “How do you seem so familiar?” she asked in a breathy whisper. She chuckled in response. “You saw me coming Elena,” Rebekah replied knowingly. Elena just stared at her confused.

She turned to leave Elena hanging there in suspense. “Wait!” but the blonde was already gone before the single word left Elena's mouth.

Elena saw her around school and she couldn't help but stare for excessive periods of time. Caroline would be there. “Why are you staring at the vampire slut?!” she demanded sharply. Elena shook her head. “I wasn't,” she lied easily. “I spaced out and stared at nothing, she just happened to be in that direction,” she shrugged it off.

Elena and Rebekah meet again when Elena is one of the last of the students to leave the school. “Hello Elena,” she smirked as her voice carried a sickeningly sweet tone to it. Elena stared at her blankly. “What do you want?” she asked coolly. “I wanted to talk to you about your little fantasy world you lived in with me during the 20s,” Rebekah drawled, holding her stare with Elena. Elena froze. “That's quite weird,” she nodded awkwardly.

“You saw me coming. You already knew me way before any of this,” Rebekah said. “But I don't understand how...” she said stupidly, gulping away the lump that built up in her throat. “Some bond, I don't know. But Gloria told me this would happen back then,” she said. Suddenly Rebekah disappeared.

God! Elena was sure she could just stick with dreaming of Rebekah instead. Being around her was to confusing and she didn't know what to think. But she knew it wouldn't last long. It seemed Elena was stuck with Rebekah.
