This is just beautiful, so perfectly in character. It fills up the corners that the show leaves blank (which in my sometimes-not-so-humble opinion is just what fanfiction is for). Understated, not melodramatic but touching and so heartfelt. Poor Amy... poor Rory... poor Melody.
So many favourite parts here - the addition of Mels, which makes so much sense and really fleshes out that relationship. Especially the orange tea. Lovely! Rory punching the wall was perfectly in character and summed up his distress far better than pages of sobbing. The recurring motif of the baby's hands was just a beautiful image. Anyone who has loved a new baby will recognise it. And Amy... oh Amy, you have her sorrow, and her humour and her spark perfectly.
