After reading this prompt, I couldn't not write it. Sorry if it's not what you had in mind.
Caroline carefully unwrapped the dvd from the plastic that clung to it like a second skin. Honestly, she was in a hurry and the manufacturer made the case almost impossible to open. Her grip tightened as she continued to rip and pull at the plastic surrounding one of her favorite childhood movies. She didn't want to damage the movie inside but if she didn't get it opened soon she wasn't going to be responsible for her actions. After she reminded herself that she'd waited months to get the movie as a surprise for Stefan; she paused, took a deep breath to calm her nerves before she continued. Finally, she was able to remove the plastic wrapper and place the movie inside the opened dvd player just as Stefan entered the room.
"What are you doing, Caroline?" He took a couple of steps backward, just in case he needed to make a quick getaway; he didn't know what she had in mind but with Caroline it paid to be cautious.
"I thought we could watch a movie before we went hunting."
Stefan's eyes narrowed in suspicion. For some reason he couldn't quite put his finger on, he really didn't like the sound of that. But he had to ask anyway. "What kind of movie?"
"Do you remember when you tried to get me to hunt for the first time?" As he nodded his head she continued.
"And do you remember what I'd said?"
How could he ever forget? She'd made it plain and in no uncertain terms that she would never want to hunt a rabbit because of her love for... Oh dear God! A cold chill went down his spine. Surely she didn't mean.....
Unable to take the silence any longer she smiled and held up the movie case. "We're going to watch Bambi!" She clasped her hands together in delight. The thrilled look on her face was almost as if she were offering him the Holy Grail or in his case the cure to vampirism.
He had never seen her quite this happy before but that still didn't mean he would give in. No, this time he was standing his ground. Sticking to his guns. "I don't want to watch it. I've never wanted to watch any Disney movie and believe me when I say I'm way too old to want to start now."
"But, this will be good for you."
How could his watching a cartoon ever be good for him? "Caroline, I am not going to watch Bambi before I go hunting."
"But..."
Stefan quickly interrupted before she could finish. "No." As she opened her mouth to speak he quickly held up his hand and added, "There is absolutely nothing you can say that will convince me to watch this cartoon."
Why was he being so mean? All she wanted to do was watch a movie with him, one that he hadn't even seen before, was that so terrible? Caroline let her eyes fill with tears and her bottom lip begin to tremble as she stared at Stefan.
Damn it! He could never handle tears in a woman's eyes even if he did have the sneaky suspicion that he was being manipulated. With a loud sigh, Stefan walked to the couch and sat down before he patted the seat beside him. "Okay, fine. Let's watch the movie."
Caroline placed her hands on her hips, her fingers tapped impatiently on her hip as she glared at his tone. "Can't you say it like you mean it?"
He returned her glare with one of his own. "Caroline."
She decided not to push her luck and with a squeal of delight Caroline sat down beside him and pressed play on the remote. As the movie began, she wondered if she should mention that she also had Bamb II lined up. At the disgruntled look on his face she decided to keep it as one more surprise.
