Possible Mean Girl because I think that's one of the types Lynch started working with for Audrey before deconstructing that type a bit? She's mean for the sake of meanness in the pilot, at least (when she spills the coffee over that lady's paperwork), and then Lynch had the plot planned where she was the one who pushed Johnny down the stairs.
But we're in agreement over the end product of what Audrey ended up being. Which is what I meant by her being pragmatically mean. She's mean as a show of power in order to get something she wants, which works for me. And I like that she wants power in the real world, and is not interested in high school politics.
I think her isolation is one of her most defining characteristics? I think this is also a point of connection with Laura, who is also isolated, but in a different way. But I also suspect that Audrey doesn't really interact with people from school (we see her skipping often, for one thing, and she's not friends with Donna or Laura or Shelly.) And yes, Cooper and Audrey are similar in weird ways, which makes the relationship insanely compelling for me.
. . . I have a lot of Thoughts On Audrey. *sheepish*
I rarely get to discuss "Twin Peaks" with people, and so am always happy to do so, especially when it's about Audrey. <3
Yeah, all of the women are so interesting, but there were so many characters that they rarely got to interact (and fiction fails at passing Bechdel's test). The fic possibilities are endless, and it makes me sad that the fandom is old and dead.
Re: Twin Peaks - Cooper/Audrey - Hey girl, you've got a fine laugh, and I think that I can get used
