How much did I love this?! Your characterization is perfect - Phil Dunphy is only one of my favourite characters ever, and you've written him amazingly (standing up with only minimal crashing-awkwardly-into-the-table action! perfect!) - and at the same time, everything about them being together makes sense, which I love. I didn't buy it for a long time on the show, but I think it was around the time of this episode's airing that it suddenly fit, and you've carried that over so well.
