Which felt maybe a little bit like indulgent characterization on my part, but I do think that for such a hardcore HBIC, she is very good at deluding herself about certain things. Addieeee.
I don't think it's indulgent at all! One of the things that I have always loved about Adelle as a character is that she's so pragmatic, and so ruthless, but still completely capable of deluding herself, especially when it comes to things like the morality of the Dollhouse. So many layers!
And it's the same thing with Dominic! Because you have "True Believer" and "A Spy in the House of Love", both of which really do emphasize what a hardcore bastard he can be, but then you have "Echoes" wedged in between them, where his reaction to losing his inhibitions isn't to just kill anything that annoys him, it's to apologize and want to be friends! So everything he does just becomes extra-creepy because he doesn't really want to do it but he's rationalized it and he's really committed and probably has not a few anger issues from being undercover for three years. And it really is such an incredibly sad situation, because okay yay his brain isn't fried but now the lies are still there and there's absolutely no way around them. Because, really, they've passed any kind of point where he could ever just admit it, and when she figures it out now it's just going to be worse. Ahh, they are just so amazing even when they are drowning in tragedy.
ALSO, YES, FRIENDING WOULD MAKE ME EXTREMELY HAPPY ♥
